Overview:

Huperzine is an alkaloid extracted from Huperziaceae family [Huperzina serrata(Thumb.)Trev], It is a strong Cholinesterase reversibility inhibitor, which has similar effect as Neostigmine, but the effect lasts longer than Neostigmine. Animal experiment shows that huperzine selectively inhibit true choline sterase, the intensity is thousand times higher than pseudocholine sterase. The inhibition mode is a mixture of competitive and non competitive inhibition, which has remarkable difference than competitive inhibitor only.
