Overview:

GABA is white crystalline powder and has no optical activity. Its melting point is 203 °C (decomposed). It is miscible with water, slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone, insoluble in benzene and ether, and will be dehydrated to generate pyrrolidone during decomposition.
