Product Details

Overview:

GABA is white crystalline powder and has no optical activity. Its melting point is 203 °C (decomposed). It is miscible with water, slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone, insoluble in benzene and ether, and will be dehydrated to generate pyrrolidone during decomposition.

GABA often exists in the form of zwitterion (negatively charged carboxyl groups and positively charged amino groups) in a solution. Due to the electrostatic interaction between positive and negatively charged groups, GABA can have molecular conformations in gaseous (folded) and solid (stretched) states in an solution. The polymolecular conformations of GABA in a solution enable it to bind a variety of receptor proteins and perform many important physiological functions.

Efficacy overview:

As an inhibitory neurotransmitter, GABA plays a role in molecular signaling and performs a variety of physiological functions. Studies have shown that GABA can reduce the neuron activity, prevent overheating of nerve cells, lower blood pressure, and perform multiple physiological effects, such as prevention from arteriosclerosis, regulation of arrhythmia, reduction in blood lipids, and enhancing the liver function. Moreover, GABA has a certain effect on a variety of mental illnesses, such as epilepsyepilepsy, convulsionsconvulsions, Huntington's diseaseHuntington's disease and Parkinson's diseaseParkinson's disease. Although GABA has important physiological functions, with the increase of people's stress and age, the content of GABA in the human body will keep decreasing. Therefore, it is significantly important for human health to supplement GABA from food.
