Overview:

Green coffee is an evergreen shrub or small tree of the Rubiaceae family. The leaves are opposite, leathery, and long-ovate; the flowers are in the leaf axils and appear white; the berries are oval and dark red and contain two seeds. Native to eastern tropical Africa, such coffee is divided into large, medium, and small grains according to the size of coffee beans: 1) coffea arabica is suitable for cultivation in highlands at an altitude of 600-1200 m, and is low temperature resistant, but weak in disease resistance; 2) coffea canephora is suitable for cultivation at an altitude of 300-700 m. It is not tolerant to drought and wind, but it has high yield and quality. The fruit is not easy to fall off after maturity; and 3) coffea liberica is suitable for cultivation in low lands at an altitude below 300 m. It is tolerant to drought and can resist plant diseases and pests. It has strong flavor.

Chlorogenic acid in green coffee bean extract is the phenylpropanoid compound produced by the shikimic acid pathway during aerobic respiration of plants. It is also called coffee tannic acid, which is composed of various isomers. Chlorogenic acid is easily soluble in water, ethanol and acetone, and slightly soluble in ethyl acetate. It appears faint yellow solid at room temperature.

Green coffee bean extract is derived from the seeds of Rubiaceae coffea arabica, coffea canephora and coffea liberica. Its main component is chlorogenic acid, which can reduce blood pressure, resist tumors and oxidation, and reinforce the kidney. It can also be used in healthcare foods to make such food sweet and delicious.

Function and usage:

1. Animal in vitro studies have proven that, when the chlorogenic acid in green coffee reaches a certain concentration, it can irreversibly inhibit the hydrolysis of glucose-6-phosphatase, reduce the degradation of liver glycogen and the absorption of exogenous glucose, and promote the fat decomposition in the human body to replenish energy and reduce fat.

2. The chlorogenic acid in green coffee bean extract has the significant antihypertensive effect, and its curative effect is stable without toxic and side effect;

3. Green coffee bean extract has significant effects on preventing and treating nasopharyngeal cancer and tumors. It is featured by low toxicity and safety. Japanese scholars have studied the anti-mutation effect of chlorogenic acid and confirmed that it can prevent tumors.
