Overview:

Genistein, mainly exists in legumes, including soybeans, Sophora japonica L and Euchresta japonica. It is a naturally occured compound that belongs to a class of compounds known as isoflavones, it always functions as an angiogenesis inhibitor and phytoestrogen. It can inhibit protein-tyrosine kinase and topoisomerase-Ⅱ(DNA topoisomerases, typeⅡ) activity and is used as an antineoplastic and antitumor agent. Experimentally, it has been shown to induce G2 phase arrest in human and murine cell lines.

Further, genistein is a phytoestrogen which has selective estrogen receptor modulator properties. It has been investigated in clinical trials as an alternative to classical hormone therapy to help prevent cardiovascular disease in postmenopausal women.

Function and usage:

1. Genistein and genistin is the highest active ingredient existing in Soy isoflavones, Genistein has the function of two-way regulation. 3. Genistein is anti-bacterial, its mechanism of anti-bacterial is achieved by damaging the integrity of cell wall and cell membrane, inhibit TCA circulation and protein formation.
